Transitioning to a New Way of Living

Yes, I was on my own. I had to find a whole new way of living. In a nutshell, I had to tear down the old house and rebuild a new one. I tried many therapies. People always ask me which ones worked. After doing so many countless programs, I got better but then my viral load and liver enzyme levels stopped going down. I stopped making any progress. I was on a healing plateau. I had to make some new changes.

I eliminated meat and I made more progress and then I went vegan and started my own garden. Today, I eat meat again, but back then my life was on the line. Simply put, in the chronic stage with a high viral load, it was best to stop eating meat. Heavy proteins like red meat with a high iron content were a big burden for a sick liver.

This major shift in diet was the key to unlocking better digestive health. By reducing the heavy workload on my liver and digestive system, I was creating an environment ripe for gut restoration. The high fiber, plant-based diet was nourishing my gut flora—the community of microorganisms now often referred to as the microbiome health ecosystem—which, in turn, supported my immune response. Chemicals were also dangerous. Any kind of petrol fumes or smoke was especially toxic to the liver.

Eating organic was the big part that was so important, and it was easier to go organic once I had a garden and went vegan. With less burden, the liver had a chance to get stronger. It was freed up to do more functions like detox, healing, and regeneration. My new vegan diet turned things around for me, now I was feeling better and soon my own garden was in full swing.

Upgrading and Innovating Protocols

By early spring of 1994, drinking the juice of fresh vegetables was one of the main components to jump start my immune response to fight the virus. There were other important changes of my methodology that factored into producing my rapid recovery and getting me off the plateau. Now that I had a good diet focused on optimizing my microbiome health, I also had to make sense of what worked with my new protocols. Learning all the natural therapies that I did only took me half way, I knew they had to be upgraded, advanced, and innovated to achieve recovery. This also meant making my own definitions and terminology that best described these new techniques and protocols I developed.

Reimagining Cleansing: Macro-Biotic and Micro-Biotic

What is Macro-Biotic and Micro-Biotic cleansing? I don’t have room in this letter to share the long answer, so here is the short answer. In my new terminology and protocols, Macro-Biotic cleansing is not the Japanese diet with brown rice and bamboo shoots. In my program it means whole body cleansing. “Macro” meaning “whole” and “biotic” meaning “body”.

Micro Biotic is the microsystem cleansing. This is like improving the microcirculation after getting the pink color flush when taking B-3 Niacin. This is MICRO BIOTIC cleansing. This level of cleansing includes the targeted support of gut flora to ensure the core of the immune system is healthy. There are at least a dozen of each in my protocols. Total cleansing has to be done on both the macro biotic level and the micro biotic level to make progress. Everything I did was in a new way.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gut Restoration

  • Why did the author refuse the conventional liver transplant for Hepatitis C?

The author refused the liver transplant because they believed it would not eliminate the Hepatitis C virus, which was their primary goal. They chose a holistic path focused on keeping their own liver and developing new healing protocols.

  • How did the author's dietary changes support their gut flora and recovery?

The author eliminated meat and went vegan to reduce the burden on their liver. This high-fiber, plant-based diet was instrumental in achieving gut restoration, nourishing the gut flora, and supporting overall digestive health as a foundation for immune response.

  • What is the difference between Macro-Biotic and Micro-Biotic cleansing in the author's protocols?

In the author’s unique terminology, Macro-Biotic cleansing means whole body cleansing (involving the lungs, skin, heart, etc., such as intense exercise). Micro-Biotic cleansing refers to microsystem cleansing, which includes improving microcirculation and targeted support for the microbiome health (gut flora).

  • Why was eliminating meat considered a critical part of the initial healing process?

For the author in the chronic stage with a high viral load, heavy proteins like red meat (especially with high iron content) were too great a burden on their sick liver. Reducing this burden allowed the liver to focus on detox, healing, and regeneration.

  • What role did organic gardening play in the recovery process?

Organic gardening was key to ensuring the author's diet was as clean and nutrient-dense as possible. Growing organic food was a major part of reducing toxic exposure and providing the necessary raw materials (like fresh vegetable juice) to jumpstart the immune response.

There are many stories of survival, and then there are stories that redefine what survival truly means. In From Self-Sabotage to Master Survivor , Dr. Johnny Delirious delivers a deeply personal and unfiltered account of a life that refused to end quietly. This is not a polished, distant narrative. It is raw, immediate, and real. Dr. Johnny’s journey moves through addiction, illness, loss, and moments where life stood on the edge of collapse. He does not soften the reality. There are nights filled with fear, days marked by physical breakdown, and a constant confrontation with his own choices. Yet, what emerges from these experiences is not defeat, but transformation. At the heart of the book is a simple but powerful idea: survival is not accidental. It is intentional. What makes this work compelling is how it shifts the reader’s perspective. Survival is no longer just about escaping death or overcoming disease. It becomes a discipline, a mindset that requires awareness, responsibility, and a willingness to rebuild from the inside out. Through his experiences, Dr. Johnny introduces the concept of the “Master Survivor,” not as a title, but as a state of being that exists within anyone willing to fight for it. The narrative also explores the limitations of conventional thinking around health and healing. Instead of presenting rigid answers, the book invites readers to question, to reflect, and to reconnect with their own bodies in a more meaningful way. It blends lived experience with practical insight, making it both personal and purposeful. What stays with you is not just the story, but the honesty behind it. There is no pretense here. No attempt to appear perfect. Only a man who has faced the consequences of his past, endured the weight of loss, and chosen, repeatedly, to rise again. That choice becomes the central message of the book. For readers navigating their own struggles, whether physical, emotional, or personal, this book offers something rare: not false hope, but grounded belief. Dr. Johnny Delirious is a naturopathic practitioner with decades of experience and the creator of the Master Survivor philosophy. His work focuses on helping individuals reclaim control over their health and their lives through awareness and discipline. This is the kind of story that doesn’t fade once you’ve finished reading. It lingers, challenges, and quietly reshapes the way you think about loss, survival, and what it truly means to rebuild a life. Dr. Johnny Delirious doesn’t just share experiences; he invites readers into a deeper conversation about resilience, purpose, and transformation.
